Oxford Reading Buddy provides progressive levels of audio support.
- Oxford Reading Levels 1-5: the text of every book is available to listen to as well as to read. Additionally, the eBook provides left-to-right tracking (meaning that each word is visually highlighted as it is read).
- Oxford Reading Levels 6-10: the text of every book is available to listen to as well as to read, but word tracking is not available.
- Oxford Reading Levels 11-20: audio of the text is not provided.
The text in the quizzes is available to listen to from Oxford Reading Levels 1-10.
{:}{:au}Up to and including Oxford Reading Level 5, audio is provided and in eBooks the individual words are highlighted as they are read to support left-to-right word tracking. In order to gradually support students to be more independent readers, Levels 6-10 have audio only, helping to model fluency.
Audio is provided for all quiz text (including questions and answer options) at Oxford Reading Levels 1 to 6, and for questions only at Oxford Reading Levels 7 to 10.
Audio on quizzes means the questions can be appropriate to students’ listening comprehension ability rather than their word-reading/decoding ability, which may be much lower.
{:}{:as}Up to and including Oxford Reading Level 10, there is audio support available for students who need it to model fluency.
Up to and including Oxford Reading Level 6, individual words are highlighted within eBooks as they are read to support left-to-right word tracking.
Audio will be provided for all quiz text (including questions and answer options) at Levels 1 to 6, and for questions only for Levels 7 to 10.
Quiz audio enables questions appropriate to students’ listening comprehension ability to be posed, rather than questions based on their decoding ability, which may be much lower.
Audio-enhanced flashcards appear within coaching eBooks and are also accessible from within the Library.
